On July 1, 2019, Dhillon Law Group filed a lawsuit against the University of Southern California on behalf of Rick Courtright, a former football coach at the University of Southern California and the Arizona Cardinals, for retaliation surrounding his reporting of academic fraud and safety violations. In the complaint, Mr. Courtright alleges, among other violations, that he overheard two graduate assistants students discuss receiving sums of money from defensive coordinator Clancy Pendergast to pay undergraduate students to take their online graduate classes for them. He also alleged safety violations that resulted in student athletes being injured during practice. The lawsuit alleges that Mr. Courtright was harassed, retaliated against, and ultimately forced out of his job, as well as denied a promised promotion, as a result of his complaints about these violations.
