With travel ban lifted, Bay Area residents rush to fly relatives back to U.S.

As news spread that President Donald Trump’s executive order barring certain refugees and visa-holders from the United States had been temporarily lifted, anxious families across the Bay Area hustled Saturday to get relatives stranded overseas on planes headed west.

With a legal battle brewing in federal court, immigration advocates said families have very little time to act. The Justice Department filed an appeal late Saturday of U.S. District Judge James L. Robart’s ruling, issued Friday, that temporarily blocked enforcement of the controversial immigration ban.
